2014 K-Dramas Part 1

2014 K-Dramas Banner

If you are a K-Drama lover I’m sure you’re looking what 2014 has to offer for you to enjoy your time in front of the screen.

What makes you watch K-dramas? Of course a drama should have a new interesting plot (preferably not the cliché repeated one), good writing and directing, and star casting.  I think the actors can sell a drama depending on their performance as I’ve seen some pretty uninteresting dramas that hold you only because of the brilliant performance of the cast. For me thou personally the plot of the story and the starring cast are what I look for when I choose dramas. What about you? Here are new Korean Dramas of 2014:

[NOTICE: After the dramas are completed I will rate them on scala 1/10]

 Emergency Couple (7/10)

Emergency_Man_and_Woman-p2

Genre: Romance, Comedy

Episodes: 21

Cast: Choi Jin Hyuk, Song Ji Hyo

Plot:  A couple who got married during medical school despite the guy family’s strong opposition. But due to their clashing personalities they divorced soon afterwards. They are reunited six years later as interns at the ER in a hospital. Will love strike again for the two? Will they find the joy of the differences or will they clash again?

My thoughts: If you are looking for a simple, a little silly romantic comedy to cheer you up I think this is your drama. The characters interactions, bickering  are always made in a comic way that makes you chuckle. You may be familiar with the screenwriter Choi Yoon Jung who did Lie To Me (which if you haven’t watched you definitely should).

God’s Gift – 14 Days (9/10)

Genre: Crime, Mystery,

Episodes: 16

Cast: Lee Bo-Young, Cho Seug-Woo, Kim Yoo-Bin, Baro

Plot:  A time-slip drama about a mother who goes back fourteen days in time to save her daughter from being kidnapped and murdered. Can she find the killers and save her daughter’s life in time? How much would their lives change during that time?

My thoughts: This is the most thrilling drama I have watched in a long time. For the ones that love mystery and thriller it’s the perfect choice! The unfolding of the story and its twists will keep you on the edge and leave you craving for more, wanting to know what else will you discover along the way. From the PD Lee Dong Hoon who did “Protect the Boss” and screenwriter Choi Ran,who you may know from “Iljimae”.  And when you add the cast (with the great addition of B1A4 Baro) – the drama is amazing. My favorite so far and really worth checking out.

 3 Days (8.5/10)

Drama Poster 3-Days

Genre: Action, Thriller

Episodes: 16

Cast: Park Yoochun, Son Hyun-Joo, Park Ha-Sun, So E-Hyun, Yoon Je Moon

Plot:  Three days can change the destiny of a country. The South Korean President goes missing during his vacation after three rounds of gun shots at his own villa. Han Tae Kyung (Park Yoochun) and his colleagues in the Blue House Secret Service pursue the case and try to save him. Political secrets, betrayals and machinations, can Tae Kyung beat the clock?

My thoughts: For the fans of dramas like “IRIS” this is a drama you may like. It’s exciting and action filled, and you can enjoy Yoochun‘s great performance. “Three Days” is a star cast filled drama and is written by Kim Eun Hee, who wrote “Phantom”, and directed by PD Shin Kyung Soo from “Deeply Rooted Tree”, or in other words – a high-quality drama with great action scenes.

2014 is starting strong in the Drama land. There is a great variety of different genres and story plots to choose, for everyone’s taste. Now if only there was enough free time to watch them all, but oh, well.

So, which drama have you chosen  to watch?
