‘Kill Me, Heal Me’ has gathered a lot of buzz for its unique story and brilliant acting performance, and now is also influencing beauty and fashion trends in Korea. In the history of K-Drama beauty trends, Ji Sung is the first male actor to affect sales in makeup products.
The drama is having an impact on raising sales for brands featured in the show in a very fun and unique way. Ji Sung plays Cha Do Hyun, who suffers from multiple personality disorder. One of his seven personalities is a 17-year-old high school girl Yoo Na, a troublemaker and idol boy-crazy, who become viewers’ favourite because of her antics.
After her appearance in the drama, it was only a matter of time before the fans identified the lip tint she wore. The lipstick is Hera brand and it’s called Hera sheer holic pop tint color #1 Marilyn Pink, or now referred as ‘YooNa tint’. In a week the lipstick was sold out in Korea along with the rabbit fuzzy polyester pyjama she wore.
Yoo Na is not the only personality from the drama that is setting trends. Her twin brother Yoo Sub is also becoming a fashion model as the stripped lounge shirt he wore has become a hot item and also has been sold out.
Besides setting fashion trends drama ‘Kill Me, Heal Me’ elegantly balances humour, romance and suspense. The drama has been really fun to watch and in the last few episodes has gained a lot of attention with its hilarious comic scenes, some of which turned out to be ad-libbed.
The scenes that brought laugh were the awesome and hilarious rap battle between Sin Se Gi (Ji Sung) and Oh Ri Jin (Hwang Jung Eum), the chair comedy with “I don’t touch. It’s only the chair.” and Shin Se Gi and Cha Do Hyuns’ fierce “Don’t touch the hair!”.
Director Kim Jin Man said, “We’re like Gag Concert. This is comedy“. A rep stated “The rap battle becoming a hot topic was ad-libbed by the actors. It wasn’t in the script, but Ji Sung and Hwang Jung Eum work so well together that it occurred naturally.”
