Upcoming drama “Moon Lovers” could become one of the most anticipated drama of 2016. The excitement went higher with the casting news of IU and Ji Soo joining the already stellar cast.
IU is in talks for the female lead role in the drama opposite Lee Jun Ki, while confirmed to join the drama is 2015 breakout star Ji Soo, in the role of one of the princes. “Moon Lovers” is a remake of popular Chinese time-slip fusion sageuk “Bu Bu Jing Xin” (Startling with Each Step).
The original drama is about a girl who time-travels to the Qing dynasty after a car accident; trapped in the body of an aristocrat’s daughter she gets embroiled in a royal battle between princes. The Korean remake will take place in early Goryeo in the time of king Gwangjong, and so far confirmed for the male lead princes are Lee Jun Ki, Kang Ha Neul, Hong Jong Hyun, EXO‘s Baekhyun and Nam Joo Hyuk. A new addition is Kim Sung Kyun from “Reply 1994”, who will play a government official.
The k-drama remake will be directed by PD Kim Kyu Tae who did “It’s Okay, it’s Love” and “That Winter, the Wind Blows“, and writer Jo Yoon Young, who wrote is “Save The Dance For Me“.
UPDATE: Lee Jin Ki and IU confirmed as the leads, concluding the whole cast and the drama prepares to start filming.
“Moon Lovers” will air in September 2016 and be broadcast in Korea and China at the same time.
