Upcoming fantasy sageuk drama “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo” released new posters, portraying the rivalry and ambitions of the prince lineup.
The new posters reveal about each prince’s personality, as well as ambitions for love and power. Meanwhile, “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo” is a fantasy romance drama about a modern day girl who is sucked back to the Goryeo dynasty throughout an eclipse, where she gets in the middle of the palace struggles, and falls in love with the 4th prince Wang So (Lee Joon Ki).
Character descriptions of the heroine and the princes:
IU plays a 21st century girl Ko Ha Jin: “If we hadn’t met, then we wouldn’t long for each other so much.”
She time traveled after her soul enter the body of a young Goryeo lady Hae Soo. In Goryeo she becomes entangled between the prince’s ensued fight over love and power.
Kang Ha Neul plays the 8th Prince Wang Wook: “In order to protect everything I love dearly, I had to change.”
His great intellect and gentle looks secure him an early arranged marriage, but his family expectations put a huge burden on him. He becomes interested in Ko Ha Jin/Hae-Soo (IU), as she brings fresh light into his life, but to win her heart will put him fighting against the 4th Prince (Lee Joon Ki).
Hong Jong Hyun plays the 3rd Prince Wang Yo: “I won’t give up what’s mine just to gain a girl.”
He lacks nothing in looks, background, or talent. While the other princes get swayed with love, he is solely focused in becoming the next ruler of Goryeo, as his mother has raised him from an early age to be ambitious for the crown.
Yoon Sun Woo plays the 9th Prince Wang Won: “You want my heart? Take as much silver as you like.”
He is extremely wealthy due to his mother’s family background, and interested in looking good, but is also a dangerous character, close to the 3rd prince. Later he becomes the Crown Prince Hyoeun.
Baekhyun plays the 10th Prince Wang Eun: “I’m going to stick right behind you. I will protect you.”
Among the princes he is the playful troublemaker, who doesn’t have any interest in studying or martial arts. He falls for Hae Soo (Lee Ji Eun) after getting in a series of arguments with her, experiencing his first love/crush.
Nam Joo Hyuk plays the 13th Prince Wang Wook/Baek Ah: “If I wasn’t a prince, could I love you?”
Although gifted in arts from an early age, he feels a sense of distance from his title due to his mother, who is a member of the Shilla Imperial Family. Because he has the same name as the 8th prince (Kang Ha Neul) his brothers call him Baek-ah.
Ji Soo plays the 14th Prince Wang Jeong: “I won’t call you sister anymore. I want to be a man to you.”
As the youngest prince, he has grown up always being the loved one, so he likes to monopolize all the attention. He loves martial arts and has a close bond with the 10th prince (Baekhyun). He shares a mother with the 3rd prince (Hong Jong Hyun) and the 4th prince (Lee Jun Ki)
“Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo” will premiere August 29 on SBS.
